ACAOM Seeks Nominations for Commissioner Position

The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) seeks nominations of qualified individuals to fill the Educator member vacancy on the Commission.  See the Instructions for Nominating Commissioner Candidates below.

The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) is the national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation and pre-accreditation ("Candidacy") throughout the United States of first-professional master's degree and professional master's-level certificate and diploma programs in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and professional post-graduate doctoral programs in acupuncture and in Oriental medicine (DAOM), as well as freestanding institutions and colleges of acupuncture and Oriental medicine that offer such programs.

The Commission fosters excellence in acupuncture and Oriental medicine education by establishing policies and standards that govern the accreditation process for acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs. Currently, ACAOM has over 60 schools and colleges with accreditation or Candidacy status.

Educator Member – 1 Position
An educator member is someone currently or recently directly engaged in a significant manner in postsecondary education in an academic capacity (e.g., professor, instructor, academic dean), for example a part or full-time faculty member, or academic administrator, or researcher associated with an accredited AOM program in an accredited post-secondary institution.

Instructions for Nominating or Self Nominating Commissioner Candidates:
Mail, FAX, or e-mail to the ACAOM office the: 1) Name; 2) Contact Information (phone, e-mail, address, and FAX) for each candidate you wish to nominate for service on the Commission.

Please view the Commission’s website at www.acaom.org under the “Hot News” link to view the “Candidate Instruction Letter” for anyone nominated for service on the Commission.

Nominations should be submitted as soon as possible.  Review of nominations will begin with those received by December 21, 2012.  The vacancy will be filled as needed and nominations will remain open until the position is filled.
